Lalamove Basics: How to Handle Order Types and Payment

Being in the right place at the right time is key at Lalamove. Not every order is an immediate delivery that requires you to hit the road right away. There are different order types in the Lalamove app that you should know to avoid misunderstandings that could frustrate both you and the customer.

That's why you should always check the pickup date and time of an order before you accept it, because we also offer scheduled orders on our platform. Customers can schedule deliveries for a later time on the same day or even for a future date. Here is how you can distinguish between the different order types:

3 Order Types at a Glance

Immediate deliveries (Dark Orange)

This is the standard on-demand request. When you accept these orders, the customer expects you to drive to the pickup location immediately. Only accept these orders if you are able to head to the pickup location right away.

Same-Day Delivery (Light Orange)

Light orange represents a scheduled order for later the same day. In this case, you can plan your route with more flexibility since you do not need to head to the pickup location immediately, but before accepting it you should be sure that you will be in that area later the same day.

Next day or later (Blue)

Blue represents a scheduled order for the next day or a later date. These orders are ideal if you want to plan your workload in advance. Only accept them if they fit your schedule and make sure to keep the date in mind.  For blue scheduled orders, our support team will call you 1 hour before pickup to make sure everything is in order.

Key Rules to Keep in Mind

The most common misunderstandings between delivery partners and customers arise regarding payment. Please keep the follow these in mind to ensure correct payment:

1. "Settle with Customer" = Cash Order

When you see the instruction "Settle with Customer," it means you should collect this amount directly from the customer at the time of delivery. However, it is important to bear in mind that this may not be the entire amount you will be paid for the order: see below.

2. Subsidies & Coupons

Sometimes, Lalamove pays drivers bonuses and subsidies for accepting particular orders, or the user has a coupon code. This means the price a customer pays is lower than the total delivery amount. When this happens, Lalamove pays you the rest of the money directly in your in-app wallet.

The bonus amount depends on your vehicle type. For an order with a €10 subsidy, Lalamove transfers this €10 directly to your wallet. The customer may still pay for the delivery itself in cash, but you should only collect the amount owed by the customer if the "Settle with Customer" instruction is displayed.

Example 1: A total order value of €20, with €10 in delivery value and €10 in driver subsidy. 

If the customer pays by card, the entire value will be paid into the driver wallet. If the customer chooses to pay by cash, then whilst the driver should collect €10 cash from the customer, the other €10 goes into the driver wallet automatically.

Example 2: A customer uses a 30% off coupon.

In this case, the total delivery fare is €20, but the coupon gives the customer €6 off. This means the customer only owes €14, and Lalamove pays you the €6 balance. If the customer pays by card, the full €20 is sent directly to your driver wallet. If the customer pays by cash, you collect €14 in cash from the customer. Lalamove then adds the remaining €6 to your driver wallet automatically so you still receive your full pay.

To ensure a professional and trustworthy platform, we strictly enforce the following rules:

  • Demanding extra cash from a customer will result in a permanent account ban.

  • If you believe there is a discrepancy, do not argue with the customer. Instead, contact our support team immediately via the app to resolve the issue.

  • Sharing your private or business phone number will result in a permanent account ban.
